Mikey currently serves as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Field Band. Prior to joining the military, Mikey was the second clarinetist of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and the bass clarinetist of the Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, The Louisville Orchestra, and the New World Symphony.  Mikey spent summers in orchestras at the Aspen Music Festival and the Castleton Festival.

As a chamber musician, Mikey serves as a principal clarinetist for the American Chamber Winds and the Florida Chamber Players. He has performed on concert tours in Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Germany with these two ensembles. Mikey is also a founding member of All of the Above, a contemporary chamber ensemble. All of the Above, the ensemble in residence at Xavier University, was recently featured on concerts at Cortona Sessions for New Music and was featured on a concert series hosted by the International Society of Contemporary Music in New York City during Fall 2017.  All of the Above was an official Next Generation ensemble of Concert: Nova, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's new music chamber ensemble which aims to "re:invent the classical music experience." AotA has also performed at the Music for All National Festival, Constella Festival, Giovanni Vecchi Concert Series, The Cincinnati Art Museum Muse Concert Series, and at Classical Revolution Cincinnati.

Mikey earned his Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Florida, and both his Master of Music and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His primary teachers have included Jonathan Gunn, Ralph Skiano, Benjamin Freimuth, Ron Aufmann, Ixi Chen, and Mitchell Estrin.
